This past summer, Officer Ashley Moeller (Panhellenic Delegate) attended Theta Grand Convention to represent our chapter.  Here is a quick write up about her experience:

"I was lucky enough to attend my first Grand Convention this summer as the delegate for our chapter. It was a wonderful experience as I got to meet alumnae and collegiate women from across the country. Some major changes did occur and there will be a dues increase for collegians and alumnae at the national level, also the number of women required to be in good standing as an alumnae chapter increased as well to 15 members instead of 10. It was very interesting to meet women of chapters across the country and hear about their chapters and how they work to communicate information, recruit and retain alumnae members, and their philanthropy events.

At Convention we were presented with the Twin Stars award to recognize all the hard work our chapter does. James Madison University won the Communication award for collegiate chapters, for their marketing and use of the fraternity slogan and message. At convention the Theta Foundation announced its Give to Learn Give To Lead campaign to raise money for scholarships for those with financial needs and for educational leadership consultants. Collegiate chapters were urged to mail letters to their alumnae explaining this new endowment and encouraging their donations to the foundation, so be on the lookout as your chapter may be contacting you.

Also at convention I got to participate in the CASA walk which was great, and after the walk we participated in a birthday breakfast to celebrate the 25 year partnership between CASA and Theta. Ashley Rhodes-Courter spoke at the CASA breakfast about her experience as a CASA child, there was not a dry eye in the house. Ashley Rhodes-Courter is the author of the book Three Little Words and I encourage you to read it as it really helps explain the huge impact a CASA volunteer has on a child.

Convention was a wonderful experience and it was great to see women from all over the country and world come together to discuss the future of Theta and the impact it has on their lives. One last thing, at convention the Life Loyal program was discussed and even though national dues were increased by $15 the Life Loyal price had not been raised, just something to consider if you are on the fence about being Life Loyal!"

The next Grand Convention will be held in June 2017.
