Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter History

Chartering
On April 13, 1969, the Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta was officially chartered as the 76th alumnae chapter. Fifty-two members of the former Fairlington-Parkfairfax Club and Northern Virginia Club met at the home of Mrs. Jack High to sign the charter and create this new chapter. These former clubs have a history that goes back to the late 1940s.

Recent History
Over the years, the chapter has participated in a number of philanthropic events and member activities. In addition to an annual Founders Day event celebrated jointly with the Suburban Maryland/Washington, DC chapter, NOVA Theta hosts many social events throughout the year including monthly brunches, happy hours, and book club meetings. A favorite of our members is a Champagne and Chocolate event held in January.

We support Fairfax CASA at its volunteer appreciation event and participate in Race for the Cure. The NOVA Theta chapter is also involved with the Northern Virginia Panhellenic Association and participates in selling tickets to its annual scholarship fundraiser at the The Little Theatre of Alexandria.
